Tell
Your Secretary How Much You Appreciate Her!
In the 1980 film comedy
called ‘Nine to Five’, Dolly Parton sang about the
quiet frustrations of a person working hard and
feeling unappreciated. It was one of the few
Billboard chart songs to feature the clacking of a
typewriter. The lyrics were amusing and quirky, and
it hit home with many working women who were quietly
struggling to balance their work and private lives.
Today, the secretary’s job scope has expanded.
Besides keeping track of the boss’ calls and
meetings, they are able to manage all the
administrative details of planning a conference;
they handle personnel paperwork and are required to
have a broad range of skills and problem-solving
abilities.
Sometimes as bosses, we rush through our daily
schedules and we forget to thank the ones who work
behind the scenes. The assistant who ensures the
boss’ calls are screened, schedules are updated, the
letters are sent out promptly and so on. She’s that
someone you can rely on and trust in the office.
Your ever-efficient secretary who hands you the
aspirin and alka-seltzer when you most need it…
It’s good to remember that a secretary who makes
your work life easier to manage is someone to be
valued.
This Secretaries’ Week, strengthen your relationship
with your secretary/administrative assistant by
affirming your belief in her. Let her know that her
presence has attributed to the success of the
company.
Treat your secretary to a wonderful surprise by
sending her a thank you gift for her patience,
diligence and loyalty.
Have a look through our category for Secretaries’
Week. I’m sure that you’ll find a wonderful gift
that will put a smile on her face and a joyful song
in her heart.

Imagine your secretary belting out the words to
the opening song…
Workin'
nine to five
What a way to make a livin'
Barely gettin' by
It's all takin' and no givin'
They just use your mind
And they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it
Nine to five, for service and devotion
You would think that I
Would deserve a fair promotion
Want to move ahead
But the boss won't seem to let me
I swear sometimes that man is out to get me
Mmmmm...
These lines are an excerpt of the soundtrack ‘Nine
to Five’ by Dolly Parton. |
